About US

Leading Edge Bio was founded in 2012, with the aim of providing management consulting services to individuals and companies involved in pharmaceutical and biotech business development and licensing.

We support companies with pharmaceutical in-licensing activities, helping them develop strategies to leverage their strengths and achieve corporate objectives. We also provide ongoing pipeline and lifecycle management, working alongside the client’s internal efforts to generate a flow of new opportunities.

Leading Edge is led by John Leonard.  John spent much of his early career as a drug developer in biotechnolgy and big pharma companies like GSK and Eli Lilly, where he began assembling a global biopharma network that has grown to more than 5000 industry contacts over the past 20 years.  Since transitioning from scientist to business developer, John Leonard has executed more than 50 partnering engagments and created more than $5 billion USD in deal value.

John Leonard's education consists of a MBA from the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University.
